Art Basel Miami 2021 saw the launch of The Online Gallery (OG) magazine Edition 04, which we continue to design alongside our sister company Against Time.
Edition 04 showcases ‘Pioneers’: individuals who are forging their own paths, and shifting paradigms within the cultural spaces they inhabit. This issue considers what it means to be a true pioneer: one who uncovers new ground; begins, introduces, instigates, develops, and evolves.
Working closely with The OG team, our design choices aim to reflect the writing and be sensitive to the artworks, with each article of the magazine considered as having its own mini-identity suited to the artist and subject. This variety of colour, typography and layout also creates pace in the magazine, whilst developing an engaging aesthetic throughout.
The OG magazine is a physical manifestation of their platform to share and demystify art through the editorial lens of curators, artists, and organisers. The OG creates space and support for both emerging and established voices across the spectrum.
Contributors for The OG magazine Edition 04 include:
Andrew, Derrick Adams, Daniel Buezo of Kids of Immigrants, Autumn Breon, JiaJia Fei, Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, Derek Fleming of Red Rooster, Shane Griffin, Krista Kim, Laura Lupton of Galleries Commit, Raina Mehler of Superblue, Anna Park, Tony Patrick, Claudia Peña, Michele Pred, Reo, Finnegan Shepard of Both&, Hank Willis Thomas, Rich Tu of First Gen Burden, Michelle Woo and the Wide Awakes.
